There Just Weren’t a Lot of Mid-Priced Microphones that Delivered Professional Quality
Airwave Technologies was founded in 2004 out of a seen need to provide churches a reliable option that delivered consistent quality, while being affordable. In 2006 they introduced their HSD-slimline series which has gone on to sell over 100,000 headsets. What we love about the slimline series is its ability to work with a host of body packs by brands like Shure, Sennheiser, and Audio-Technica. Our rental department uses them as well. They offer a high level a gain without creating feedback.
The Best Microphone for Kids
We partnered with Airwave Technologies to create a Springtree Exclusive microphone that we use extensively in schools. Its our go-to choice for children’s theatre.
It is a professional single-ear headset boom microphone that uses an omni-directional microphone capsule with excellent clarity and high quality of sound output.
But what makes it special is a shorter boom that allows it to stay off your lips, and a lack of connector on the headset. The connector at the headset is a great practical feature, but creates a potential breaking point. Since it was designed for heavy use in schools and theatres, this feature allowed us to create a product with a much longer durability. The shorter boom while not taking away from the microphone’s performance, allows for a much longer life. It has been our experience that children tend to play and readjust headworn microphones that fall right next to their mouths. By making it shorter, it becomes less noticeable, making it more likely that it won’t be broken prematurely by fiddling.
*(A Continuation of Innovation: later this year, they’ll be releasing a HSD-titanium headset, which will sell for $199 compared to the typical $800 comparable headsets offered by other manufacturers)
